Writer's Block: Favorite Lyrics

What song lyrics would you love to have written, and why?

View 506 Answers

Hey there everybody. For song lyrics, I wish I had written either Song of Slience of the Simon or Garfunkel fame. One of the most provocative and feeling songs I've ever heard, which also deals with a strong sense of problems with media and audio at the time. Song softly and intelligently, I wish I had not only written that song, but been a participant in singing in such a beautiful piece of music.

More Writing! Yay!

Thanks to Livejournal's extensive Writer's Block feature, I can consistently practice my craft for weaving words into possible coherence while maintaining this...This one was a good one.

Movie I LOVE to hate: Easy; Battlefield Earth. Mind you, I hated this movie even before I found out that the stupidest religious figures known, L. Ron Hubbard, was involved with it. Poor John Travolta was never the same after that film considering his career, which included great titles like Face-Off and Swordfish, that he got one hell of a bad rap. Poor character development, even poorer plot continuity, and what's worse? Some of the most horribly-done aliens this side of Independence Day. Hell, at least THAT movie had a decent special effects budget. I'm waiting to buy the Rifftrax, so I can deal with that movie with a smile instead of a cinder-block through my television.

That's all folks. See you next time.

Alright! Gonna keep up with this like my gym stuff...

Even if it kills me. Gotta keep the creative juices flowing through that writing noggin....Now, what I need is a topic to write on....*Scours the internet with a small, rusty magnifying glass made of window glass, a bubble blower, and ducttape.*

Well, that's a good one. Pretty small though. I'll do three each one, I guess.

Scariest movie I ever saw: I would say Halloween. Despite the fact that I watched the movie with Dad before I passed the second grade, I am still reluctant to watch this movie as an adult. It's silly, I know; I'm one of the leading "experts" of the Horror Movie rules at home, and I can't sit through a slasher about some punk with a bowing knife? Well, it happens. The Staircase scene was clearly the worst part of that movie; not only does he carry the bloodied, gore-dripping knife down the stairs for all the world to see, but superiority is clearly dominated because for once, I didn't have to hear any words from a bad guy to feel the menacing superiority. It's like suddenly appearing at an job interview naked; You have no idea how you got there, but you've got this dude behind some mahogany giving you the Evil Eye, staring at your resume; a smiley face with a blunt in the mouth. You're gonna be feeling that superiority.

Time when someone fooled me: It wasn't earth-shattering or anything, but I've been fooled more than once by my closest female friend, Miriam, on more than one occasion. This is partly because-while at the age of 21-I know very little about social no-nos and, hell, social context since I have Asperger's Syndrome. This leads to my words being heavily misunderstood as well as my actions being mistaken as one meaning for another, not to mention my inability to catch non-verbal cues and subtle emotional reactions. It happens, though; I'm used to it by now, but I'm trying to get better.

Anyway, I found that a good strategy was to assume that when a statement was brought up, I would think a different way from the person I was speaking with, to start a conversation and learn more about the person when their defenses are down and are more willing to open up through this method. I did this to Miriam several times, in an attempt to see where her thoughts lie as well as her strong beliefs and overall personality traits. She turned the tables once when she knew I didn't believe what I was saying about what I believed to be the majority of men and the astounding ability they have to be complete idiots. I was arguing that most men were not like this (To which I can say with a fair stroke of ego, but also genuine pride that I am not. ^_^ ), but actually believed the exact opposite. Perhaps it was just too simple of a deception, because she saw it through far too easily....It's not like I haven't tricked her before, as well.

Compare someone I know to a Road Sign: Alright. I choose my mother and attribute her to a traffic light. First of all, I do consider those as "signs" because they provide information and directions to a limited scale, like the metal-on-metal signs on the sides of sidewalks that are systematically vandalized, stolen, or run over every day in America. At least you can't reach these suckers.

Mom works in the three colors, and all its variants at once, and at any time she wants to be.

Green: Very coaxing, with more than a couple examples to "point" you in the right direction, with a steady amount of encouragement.

Yellow: Best to step back and really push at it; she's ready to turn on you, your sister, or relatives, or any exercise weight you'd find in a hundred miles. This can also be a sign of extreme, methodical determination which can also lead to furious determination. Don't stand in her way; give her at least a feel cart, a empty line, and a glass of red wine.

Red: Pain. Pain for the Ears and Throat. Just back away, pal. Just back away.

For all that though, I love her so much. I could say that about a lot of people in my life, but Mom is always there.

I regret nothing!

You know what? Mondays suck completely, and I think this time, I'm not gonna take it anymore. *Grabs a sledgehammer.* We must be prepared for our trek against the unholy 24 hours by striking it during the Night of Despair, a time when Robot Caman Thomas Jefferson shows himself to the common man, only to bring about massive amounts of pain and suffering through Mind Control. The Easter Bunny, joined with Goku with only wooden legs and arms, and wheelchair-leg JFK with rocket launchers save the day.

Down with the authority of the Caman Supramacy!!! Up with Democractic Cheese Wheels! DEATH! DEATH!

Happy 1st, folks. Something real next time.

Again, going to keep up with this...

Well, at least I hope. First of all, Let me put down some sites...

First should be where I currently review: www.worthplaying.com. Under the name Matthew Szlapka when one searches, they will find my growing workpile and hopefully my way into the hands of many magazine/online readers. I am proud of the work I accomplish, and have a great deal of connection with the material. It is a glorious industry.

Second are my three favorite sites to date; Fanfiction.Net, Youtube, and Newgrounds. I'll go a little into each.

Fanfiction.Net; if one has the patience and dedication to look, has some incredible additions, novelizations, and expansions to storyline that cannot be done anywhere else but that creative forum. I'm trying to build up enough posts through commentary to be recognized as a Beta Reader officially on the site, really assist in a community where people might need some creative inspiration, a better idea of the canon material, or a good perspective on the work as a whole. Also, its just a fun little Haystack where one can just delve through and find those pins. Some of the shiny pins I have found, and very much recommend, are the works Ivan Ishara, Rowena Zahnrei, Maelgrim Cyberwraith9, Cybra, Erico, Saddletank, Simply Lily, peroxidepest117(Be prepared to laugh with him.), Rem-Chan, Red Baron, and Magus523 (A good friend on these internets, so I don't mind spreading the word.) They have a very strong command of the works they represent, in terms of both the written word and the ideas they portray concerning the original material. Once that has been realized, they heavily expand that field with description; adventure, humor, drama, and plain eye-catching scenes are within those words. I heavily support and respect these writers for the time and effort they place within, and wish them all the luck and skill I know they have in whatever areas they work towards.

Youtube is not only home to some of the most chuckle-worthy and outright insane ideas known to common man, (search Picnicface, Super Bingo, and Powerthrist if you don't believe me.) but also is a forum for creativity as well. A recent phenomena taking place there that is quite interesting are Let's Plays: Games played through their entirety while providing verbal commentary on what happens. Sometimes informative and highly amusing, these people spend some time working on some of the hardest, or most interesting games for their audience in their spare time. It is a growing community which is quickly on the rise, and I would recommend anyone to take time and watch people like:

DeceasedCrab

ProtonJonSA

UltraJMan

(Well, it seems LiveJournal is being a major problem, so I'll get to Newgrounds later. These three are really good, and I suggest one takes time to look them over. It's really awesome. *Hits "Smokebomb!!!" button.*

I'll try to stay around, and post daily, but I'm not that special....What can I say? I'm new at this kind of thing.

First of all, I'd like to say hello to the world, and hopefully my to be community of readers for gaming. I do my best as a reviewer, and I won't be stopping now, so be sure to look out for me in the future. Also, I happen to know a few good guys on here, so I think I'll be talking to them sooner or later...although I know them on AIM...Well, who knows.

Let's see....As of late, I've been working/procrastinating on a Islamic Paper at my school, Mannhattanville, and a wonderful analysis on Othello for English II. I don't like to keep my work to the wayside, but lately my focus has been off. It's my own fault, but I'll get into the swing of things again soon...I am also happy to be reading Fanfiction and waiting for new episodes of BSG to start up April 4th...Of course, I'm being told that I need to see Razor first, and I likely will...so hah.

Other than that, this is just a small intro post to what will come, I hope...Perhaps I'll try that voice post thing, if its how I think it works. Well, Laters people.
